Conductor, Pianist and Soprano, Nancy B. James, received a Bachelor of Music in Musical Studies/Piano Performance from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, and a Masters of Music in Vocal Coaching from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA. Her Post Graduate work in Vocal Performance was at the University of Lowell, MA. After returning to her native home of Syracuse, NY she has held positions as Assistant Conductor, Chorus Master, Vocal Coach, and rehearsal pianist for Syracuse Opera for over twenty-five years.
Ms. James has served as a Vocal and Diction Instructor at Syracuse University, Hamilton College and SUNY Oswego, Director of Music Ministries at the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church, and travelled extensively performing. In addition to her teaching duties, she has had the pleasure to perform with the former Syracuse Symphony, the Mohawk and Merrimack Valley Chorales and participated in several singing tours throughout Italy and Austria.
Nancy went back to school in 2018-2019 to pursue a second career in Massage Therapy in the hopes of helping musicians with their pain, injuries, and recovery. She opened her practice – Harmony Massage in January, 2020 and she is so happy to be helping musicians in this new way.
